I got the D-litter pups outside today and introduced them to deer legs. They all seemed to have a good time. In the next week I will start teasing them with deer livers and see how they react individually. Hunting is in their genes, but I like to give their prey drive a kick start.
Scout and Vimy’s D-litter will be 5 weeks old in a couple of days. They are all doing well and growing fast. They are almost weaned and will be on solid food soon. Today they got outside for a short time before it started raining again. I am looking forward to a lot of outdoor time with them in the next few weeks.
The D-litter pups are growing fast and keeping Scout busy. This is the largest litter Scout has had. It is interesting watching her mothering skills. At times she will separate the pups into two groups of four and feed one of the groups while the other group sleeps. The pups should begin opening their eyes and getting on their feet in the next week.
Scout’s D-Litter turned 1 week old today. Scout is doing a good job caring for them. The pups are all gaining weight and eating well. This litter has a variety of coat colors including a few somewhat rare chocolates. The pups had their dew claws removed last week.
