I recently received an update on one of last years D-litter pups. Olii owned by Dan Reiger of New York is one year old now. Dan is an experienced bow- hunter and tracking dog handler.
Dan wrote; This is my Olii one year later. I just got in from a training line. The line was 18 hrs. old. I’d say it was about 500 yards. I put the training line purposely through thick deer cover. They were all over the place. He did awesome. He’s turned out great. I went on a total of 14 calls last hunting season. Olii was able to find 8 of them. Most of them were pretty easy. This year I’m sure I’ll be taking him on more difficult tracking situations.
Thanks for the update and pictures Dan. I think Olii has a great start for being so young. A lot of handlers say that a tracking dog doesn’t really mature until it gets about 5 years of age.
