Dog Days Of Summer

Jetta Tunnel

It’s almost August and we’re in the dog days of summer. My dogs have been enjoying air-conditioning on the few hot days we’ve had. For the most part summer has been mild. As the days grow shorter, the hunting seasons, and field trials will be here soon. This is a good time to keep your dogs active, but have plenty of water on hand. This way they’ll be in good shape for the hunting season. Stay cool.

It has been a pretty nice summer in the midwest now that the rains have slowed down. I have noticed an increase in the rabbit population. That will hopefully make for some fun rabbit hunting after the tracking season ends. I love the sound of the dogs opening on fresh rabbit scent and they love to chase them. Voicing, or spurlaut, is something I breed for in my dogs. My younger dog Jetta also voices on hot deer scent when tracking. For now I’ll enjoy the summer but I’m already looking forward to fall!
